The Family Is Dying Off Slow...

The Family Is Dying Off Slow...

It seems these days people have forgotten about family and what family means. There was a time when cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles would all meet on a regular basis just to share the joy of family.

The spades game, domino’s or in my house, chess would be the game of choice. And right after dinner, we would hit the basketball courts for a family rivalry.

It was a blessing to grow up where blood was thicker than water. And for those who haven’t been blessed with such times, these words may seem out of order.

There wasn’t a time where dinner was not shared by all, whether I was in the park playing ball, or on the block when mama called that dinner was served.

And all parties attended.

It didn’t matter what was to eat because the food was from and for the soul. There was a special type of love that was used in the seasonings.

This was mom and dad’s time to catch up with the world and keep tabs on the family brand and make sure we were guided by loving hands.

So forgive me if I don’t quite understand. Where did we go wrong? Where did we lose our self and our sense of song?

We got down in the streets to the music that painted the times and if something was going on, Marvin Gaye was on our mind.

These days it seems like music is as selfish as those who produce it.

Because if it doesn’t include weed drugs, cash or sex, they ain’t got nothing to do with it.

But who will teach our babies because our leaders have been destroyed along with the sense of the family structure.

Back in the days we had both parents to steer the ship, but today’s mom solely is behind the Rutter.

The middles class is shrinking and the pressure is mounting as time is running out.

How can you raise a solid family when everybody you see is stressed the fuck out?

There ain’t no more Mrs. Doris’s that used to watch out for the kids on the block.

Nowadays, people turn away when people get shot, but what happened to the unnatural policing that we all took part in?

When something was wrong we spoke about it. We cured the problems before they started, but these days it seems like, if we can’t benefit we don’t do our part.

I am a product of the 60’s, so I don’t mix with today’s attitudes.

Because where I was raised all this selfishness and money over family would be considered rude.

I was raised in the heart of the civil rights movement and for those who enjoy the rights we died trying to get, this might seem like I’m just an old man on some bullshit.

But we endured the pain so that you could remain free and enjoy the simplicities of life that allows you to be what you want to be.

And while you are still stuck in your first, second, and third childhood we’re out here trying to pick up the pieces

Because the family is dying off slow is the title of this thesis.

We somehow have let money get in the middle of love and understanding.

While at the same time we have been manipulated not to respect our own brand and the ground where we are standing.

Instead of civil rights we should have been fighting for silver rights, and perhaps families and its financial structure wouldn’t be so uptight.

We lack the understanding of commerce, business, and the financial markets, which destroys our ability to get a life.

And the price we pay for this ignorance is high.

Because we have been robbed of our culture and the financial education to make our family both monetarily sound and intrinsically strong.

And to me there is nothing more important than family and the type of love it produces. It is the source of all of our strength and will power that has endured man’s cruelty.

But now it’s time to use our ingenuity and resilience to rebuild the family in a stronger, more economical, and loving way.
